Jade, You don't say wether it's pot leeks for soup, or exhibition ones (for even more soup)

You could try the allotments at Pigsty avenue and see if anyone knows of some going spare. Alternatively, call in at the Lord Nelson and leave a message behind the bar for members of the leek club.

There could well be someone reading this with spare plants they've grown from seed and doesn't think them good enough to offer, but if it's only for leek puddings at the back end of the year, it wouldn't matter that much. Smile

Good advice Birdman I'm going to try and get over to D's. As he has said he can help...now you mention it, I was only going to grow them for soup, leek pud and stir fry but maybe will try my hand at exhibition leeks although, I will need an idiots guide to specialist leek growing.Big Grin

My previous attempts were ok :o but I didn't grow them properly but were still, good enough to eat.

Are those your leeks?.................amazing!

I can't take the credit for them. My nephew grew them on his allotment over in Shiremoor.

Mine are only for soup and pud. Smile

Are the West Allotments still there [Shiremoor]? Love the area and the people.

I love seeing local, exhibition/flower shows. I hope he does well this year.

They, (the allotments) were there as of 2008 but I haven't been back since then. The nephews allotment was further up to the right of Earsden road, behind the Grey Horse.

There has been quite a bit of new road construction going on in the area and also new houses going up in the West Allotment area so I couldn't say for sure. It's quite possible the allotments are no more in both areas. :noidea:
