Southerner, Patrick says I'm wrong about James St. being called after your Grandpa. Not too sure if he or I am correct, I will have to research that fact in depth. There seems to be an awful lot credited to the one man though??? I'll bow to Patrick if I'm wrong. Teeny

Hello Southerner, Have some information for you, but first I must apologize to Patrick. I was mistaken about James Street being called after your Grt. Grandpa, it was on the 1875 map of Jarrow. So I'm totally off track there. Have found out that the ship your Grt.Grandma launched, was built in the
M. Dobson Shipyard, Walker Newcastle, 1924, for Kaye Southern Marine Company, London. I'm sorry I can't send you a photo of the opening of the Drewett Playing Fields, in 1912. There are many dignitaries on it. I'm sure your Grt.Grandpa must be one of them as he was Mayor at that time. You might recognise him. The photo is in a book by V.Rea "Jarrow 1860-1960 from Old Photographs" Hope this will help you. Teeny

Hi Teeny. Thanks for your help Big Grin. I am gathering alot of great information about my Great Grandfather. I have also found out that he was Director of The Mercantile Dry Dock Co Ltd. I welcome any info on Matthew Coulson James and his Family. Please spread the word.
Southerner.

Teeny Wrote:Lord Don Dixon, a really nice lad, he's never forgotten himself. No airs and graces, Cheers Don. Did you know Maisie Stewart left the Mayor's chain worth thousands of pounds in the chip shop Ha.Ha. Trust Maisie to get a laugh!!! Lucky for her the shopkeeper knew where she lived. She had been on the go all day and was dashing home with the tea, we'll forgive you Maisie Ha.Ha.
Here's a photo of Lord Don Dixon on a visit to Valley View School......
