I suppose if there was a plaque or something to tell the story of it, it would just be vandalized. Sad
Looks quite neat and tidy now though.

Pat ..I've turned this photo upside down and you can just make lettering out on side of well,but as you can see the vandal's have chipped brickwork away...

A bit late to respond but....It is Bede's Well and its a copy of a postcard picture that I bought with hundreds of other postcard pictures. The photograph was taken in 1902 and that is St. Cuthbert' vicarage in the background.
